North Carolina Renaissance Faire!

Yay! It starts this weekend, and I can't wait to go! I have a complete outfit to wear and I love dressing up and going to these things. I know, I'm weird, but it's fun! How can you resist seeing people in strange clothing, having the chance to look like you belong in a historical tableau, and watching a joisting tournament? I know that I can't!

Here is a photo of me in my costume:

I know the look on my face is a little funny, but I don't care, my costume is awesome! And I made my gable hat!

My poor boyfriend will be dragged along with me this weekend as I can't get into my dress very well by myself, and I want to show him why I love these fairs, whether he agrees to go with me again in the future is another story. It's our one year anniversary tomorrow though, so he couldn't turn me down! ;)

Jim, you are awesome! :*

W-W III!

W-W III, a game of word-wars, this looks like the most amazing board game I've seen in a while beside my old favorites, Scrabble, Boggle, and Trivial Pursuit. I've heard that it's almost like a mix of Scrabble and Chess! What could be a cooler board game than that (without having a real Wizard's Chess board)?

Check it out for your self! http://www.genco-games.com/ww3.html

Pllleeeaaassseeee....

If you are reading my blog, then you know a little bit about me. Lately, I've signed up to do a triathlon to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as a member of their Team in Training program. I need to raise $2200 to do the event, and I really need help getting that money. I have sent emails to all of my contact, asked people at work, and offered babysitting services in exchange for donations. I'm still really far away from my goal though.

Recently I joined The Point, which is a community where you start campaigns to get something done. If it is to raise money, then people sign up to give a certain amount that they only have to pay if the goal amount is reached by the closing date of the campaign. Everyone has to accomplish it together, or nothing happens. I have posted a neat little widget in my right side bar for people to look at my campaign and contribute if they want to. I don't care how little or how much you say that you'll promise to give if the goal is reached, but I would like you to consider signing up for a buck or two. Every little bit can help, and the more people that contribute and spread the word about contributing, the possibility of reaching my goal will seem brighter. Right now I'm a little down about being able to reach the half way point by April 3rd, which is when we have to decide if we can really reach the goal or not. If we can't we have to make up the difference out of our own pockets. And while I think that what I'm doing is for a great cause, I just don't have the funds to make up the difference.

Please help and consider joining my campaign on The Point if you don't want to instantly hand over any money. If you don't mind making a direct contribution, then visit my Team in Training website at www.active.com/donate/tntenc/chorton.

Thanks for your support!
